Application Process

Application to the Kentucky Equine Management Internship (KEMI) requires:

  • Submission of the Application Form
  • Official Transcripts from all colleges awarding credits to the applicant
  • A minimum of three letters of recommendation
  • Application Fee

International students are welcome to apply however, these students will have to obtain (at their own expense) a J-1 Visa to legally live and work in the US.

Minimum Admission Requirements

Applicants to the KEMI program must have:

  • Completed at least two years of a college curriculum with a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.0 (4.0 scale) or better in all college coursework
  • Previous hands-on experience in the equine industry
  • A strong work ethic and personal character and be dependable

Application Acceptance Dates

Applications to the KEMI program must be postmarked:

  • For Fall sessions – between February 1 and April 30 of the year of the internship session the applicant is applying to.

  • Internship Dates: June 22 – November 25, 2026
