Requirements to Volunteer with the UN
1. Requirements for International UN Volunteers (Abroad)
- Age & Eligibility: As of 1 July 2024, all candidates between 18 and 80 years old are eligible.
- Serving Period: From 1 January 2025, assignments last 3 to 48 months.
- Experience: Most positions require relevant academic and professional experience, plus language proficiency (details in each assignment description).
- Commitment: Must uphold UN values, volunteerism principles, and the UN Charter.
- Adaptability: Should be able to work in multicultural teams, collaborate with local communities, and adjust to difficult or remote conditions.
- Skills: Strong professionalism, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
2. Requirements for National UN Volunteers (In Your Country)
- Age Requirement: Minimum age is 18 years.
- Profile: No fixed profile—assignments vary from capital cities to rural villages.
- Experience:
- UN Community Volunteers: No academic or professional experience required.
- Other National UN Volunteers: May require higher education and professional expertise (see assignment details).
- Eligibility for Non-Nationals: Refugees or stateless persons residing legally in the host country may apply, if allowed under national law.
3. Requirements for Online UN Volunteers (Remote)
- Age Requirement: Minimum age is 18 years.
- Experience: No specific background required—requirements vary by assignment.
- Workload: Up to 20 hours per week, maximum 12 weeks per assignment.
- Accessibility: Open to anyone worldwide with internet access.
- Recognition: Volunteers receive an electronic certificate of appreciation from the host organization.

- Wait for Selection Process
